Our latest release introduces support for Google Pay (Google Wallet) and Apple Pay, allowing students to complete payments in the student app faster and more securely using their preferred digital wallets on supported devices and browsers.  

(*Note: this applies to the Portico Payments product, formerly known as CourseKey Payments).


Key Features: 

  1. Support for Apple Pay on compatible Apple devices 
  2. Support for Google Pay / Google Wallet on supported Android devices 
  3. Faster checkout experience with reduced manual payment entry 
  4. Secure, tokenized payment processing through native wallet providers 


Benefits: 

  1. Improved checkout speed and convenience 
  2. Reduced payment friction and cart abandonment 
  3. Enhanced security through device-level authentication 
  4. Familiar payment experience for users on supported platforms 


How to Use the New Feature: 

  • Eligible users will see Apple Pay or Google Pay automatically appear as a payment option during checkout -- just like they would for any other mobile transaction
  • Wallet options are hidden if the user’s device or browser is unsupported
  • No other setup is needed


Constraints: 

Apple Pay 

  1. Supported only on Safari 
  2. Not supported on Chrome or other non-Safari browsers 


Google Pay / Google Wallet 

  1. Supported only on Android devices 
  2. Requires Chrome browser 
  3. Not supported on iOS or non-Chrome browsers
