Portico Payments Release Notes - August 2025


This month, we are highlighting two key features for the Portico Payments solution (formerly CourseKey Payments): 1.) enhancements that allow the user to have full control of payments edits, and 2.) an updated lookback period for transactions – which will help you and your staff fully manage your student payments, with up-to-date transaction data for all credit card and ACH transactions.

Additional Flexibility for Scheduled Payments/Invoices

Manage, update, and resolve payment plans instantly—no tickets, no delays. 


What Is It

New payment platform enhancements that allow admins to edit, cancel, and void scheduled payments and invoices directly in the UI. 


Who It's For

Administrators & finance teams using the Payments Platform. 


Problem Solved

Previously, users couldn’t edit past payments and had limited control over overdue invoices—requiring support tickets for changes. Now, all updates can be managed directly in the UI for faster, more efficient payment handling. 


Why It Matters

Gives institutions full control to manage payment plans in real time—reducing delays, improving accuracy, and enhancing the experience for both staff and students. 


Details

  • Cancel unpaid invoices or entire payment plans (zeroing out any non-paid scheduled payments) regardless of due date. 
  • Edit payment schedules including installment counts, due dates, and recalculations. 
  • Void same-day transactions directly in the UI (before 9 PM ET). 
  • Initiate ACH refunds directly from the platform with clear messaging on the 6-day hold. 
  • View a complete edit history for transparency and compliance.

7 Day Lookback for Transaction Status

We will now continue to track Transactions through 7 calendar days to ensure refunded transactions reflect the correct statuses. 


What Is It

Automatic monitoring of each transaction for 7 calendar days after the event to ensure refunds/voids settle and the final status is reflected in the payment's portal. 


Who It's For

All clients using the payments platform; Finance/admin teams, Client Success, campus/program admins. 


Problem Solved

Stale or incorrect statuses after refunds/voids that required manual checks and reconciliations. 


Why It Matters

Improves accuracy and auditability, reduces support tickets, and ensures reports, invoices, and transactions etc. reflect the true, final transaction outcome.  


Details

  • System re-checks processor status for 7 days and updates the portal if a transaction settles, reverses, or is refunded. 
  • Applies to refund/void flows and late-settling transactions; no change to amounts or payout timing. 
  • Status history is retained in the audit log; reporting pulls the latest status automatically. 
  • No action required—feature is enabled platform-wide.
